Ralph E. Payne, 88, of Independence, MO passed away Monday, December 3, 2012 at his home. Ralph was born February 10, 1924 in Independence, MO to Sterling and Bessie (Conwell) Payne. On October 15, 1943 he was united in marriage to Wanetta Rose Andes and she survives of the home. He was a farmer on his own farm and believed strongly in “An honest days work for an honest days pay”. He was a member of Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rex Payne, and Paul Payne; sister, Faye Mayfield; son, Larry E. Payne; daughter, Roszetta E. Flynn. In addition to his wife Wanetta Rose, he is survived by son, John Keith Payne (Tina) of Independence, MO, William Ralph Payne ( Darlene) of Independence, MO; daughters, Sandra Joan Perez (Luis) of Independence, MO, Lila Faye Read (Elmer) of Blue Springs, MO, Lorene Lucille Enzmann (Michael) of Cook, MN; brothers, Arthur Payne of Independence, MO, Lester Newell of Cassville, MO; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Wanetta was a member of Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There, she was very involved in all activities, including the choir and working in the nursery for 63 years. She loved little children and reading, and was a very giving woman who was always willing to help. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, Hollis and Elaine; daughter Roszetta Flynn; son, Larry Payne; and sister, Atha Keele.
Wanetta is survived by her children: Lorene Enzmann and husband Michael of Cook, Minnesota, Bill Payne and wife Donna Darlene of Greenwood, Arkansas, Lila Read of Blue Springs, Sandy Perez and husband Luis of Independence, and John Payne and wife Tina of Holden, Missouri; grandchildren: Ronald Flynn, Pamela Curry, Natalie Enzmann, Karen Jung and husband Paul, Michael Payne and wife Vivian, Kimberly Payne, Wallace Ralston and wife Michelle, Aaron Ralston and wife Angie, Marie O’Connell, Jamie Alcantar and husband Jesse, and Rose Payne; 16 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; brother, Leroy Andes and wife Irene; sister, Dorothy Carriker; and brother, Earl Andes and wife Vickie.
