Since we were talking about Speedy when you were here, I don’t know if you know that he had been married once before he married Mavis. His first wife was named Gertrude and their daughter was Elenore. She was several years older than I was. She was a pretty girl. I remember when she got married and moved (I think) to Vallejo, California. Gertrude was a hair stylist in Little Rock. She always “did” your great-grandmother’s hair for free.
Speedy’s real name was Arthur Burgess. You Papaw sometimes called him Burgess and sometimes Speedy. Your great-grandfather’s name was Arthur Garfield Ray.
