Emanuel Peter Iroler was born in Rappalo, Italy (near Genoa). He married Emily Jane Cloud Oct. 12, 1856, in Simons, NC, daughter of George Cloud and Lucinda Walker Cloud. He later married Sarah Ellen Kinzer on July 24, 1900 in Carroll County, VA. Emanuel and Emily had six children. They were Mary Alice Iroler, George Washington Iroler, Elizabeth Catherine Iroler, Columbus Frank Iroler, and Sarah Etta Iroler. Elizabeth Catherine Iroler married Albert Davis Cassell, who was the son of James Cassell and Mary Ann Lahue Cassell. James and Mary are buried in this same church cemetery. James and Mary Lehue Cassell and Emanuel and Emily Cloud Iroler are my gggrandparents.
Emanuel's parents are unknown. He came to America as a stowaway at the age of 14 (1839-1845), probably disembarking at a Virginia port. He made the state of Virginia his home, serving in Co. C of the 24th Virginia Infantry, CSA. He received an annual Confederate pension, with the amount of $50.00 paid for the last time in 1916.
The bottom of his grave stone reads "Gone but not forgotten".
Emily Jane Cloud was born Oct. 12, 1856, in Carroll County, VA. She was the daughter of George Washington Cloud and Lucinda Walker Cloud. She married Emanuel Peter Iroler who was born in Rappalo, Italy (near Genoa). Emanuel and Emily had six children. They were Mary Alice Iroler, George Washington Iroler, Elizabeth Catherine Iroler, Columbus Frank Iroler, and Sarah Etta Iroler.
