CROGHAN- A Memorial service for Ruth A. (Lyndaker) Widrick, 93, George St., will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 16, at the Croghan Mennonite Church with Rev. Chad Atwood, Pastor officiating. Burial in the Croghan Mennonite Cemetery will be in the Spring. Calling hours will be Friday, January 15, from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Adirondack Funeral Home, Croghan.

Ruth died Wednesday morning at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare facility where she had resided for a week.

 

She was the daughter of the late Christian and Katie Moser Lyndaker of Croghan. On October 12, 1939, she married Elmer Widrick at the Amish Conservative Mennonite Church in Croghan with the Rev. Jacob Gingerich officiating. He died in 1983.

 

Ruth was a homemaker and worked along with her husband in the operation of the family farm and sugar bush on the Erie Canal Rd in Croghan until 1976 when they semi retired. She enjoyed her vegetable and flower garden, as well as traveling in the US and Canada. She also enjoyed her trips to the woods with her daughter.

 

She was known for her beautiful smile and caring spirit. She lived a quiet, behind the scenes life, being involved in sewing circle and mission projects.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, John C. and Mary Ellen, Lowville; and Gary J and Carol, Castorland; a daughter Elaine K, Croghan; seven grandchildren, and 12 great- grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

She is predeceased by seven brothers Ernest, John, Paul, Joseph, Arthur, Amos and Ednor.
