The Elizabeth who married Matthew Marvin, Sr. was born in 1604, probably in Great Bentley, Essex, England. Her maiden name is unknown. Marriage records indicate that she and Matthew married in 1622/33 in Great Bentley. Their children were baptized there. This data suggests that this Elizabeth was born in Great Bentley, Essex. Matthew and his family emigrated in 1635. The emigration list includes his wife Elizabeth (age 31) and 6 children, including a daughter Elizabeth (age 13), which dovetailed with a 1622 wedding.
Unfortunately, this Elizabeth is often confused with Elizabeth Gregory, daughter of Henry Gregory and wife "Goodie" Gregory. Elizabeth Gregory was born in 1604 in Nottingham, England. She married Richard Webb. After emigration, they lived first in Stratford, CT. Later they moved to Norwalk, a settlement of which Richard Webb and John Gregory (Elizabeth's brother) were among the founders. Elizabeth (Gregory) Webb died in Norwalk in 1681.
