Journal & Republican July 11, 1935 Christopher C. Noftsler, 69, resident of Beaver Falls the last 11 years, died at his home there Monday. He was born in the town of Croghan,
December 28, 1865, a son of Christopher and Kate Yousey Noftsier. He is survived by his widow, Mary Lyendecker Noftsier, Beaver Falls; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Steria, Kirschnerville, Mrs. Dennis Kuhl, Croghan; Mrs. Edward Hoppe and Miss Laura Noftsier, Beaver Falls; four sons, Aaron, Croghan; Joseph, Reuben and Harold, Beaver Falls; two brothers, Peter, Croghan, and Manning Noftsier, Carthage, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Noftsier, Beaver Falls. The funeral will be held from his home Thursday at 1:30 p. m.,and at 3 p. m., from the Amish church.
He was known as black Noftsier because of having a dark complexion and was a heavy set man.

Mrs Mary Jane Noftsier, 78, widow of Christopher Noftsier, who lived the past few years with her son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.Henry Saunders, 35 Stewart street, died at 10 last Thursday evening in the Lewis County General Hospital, where she had been admitted five days previously. She had been seriously ill six days, but had suffered from asthma, heart, trouble and kidney condition for some time.
The body was taken from the Virkler Funeral home to the home of a son, Reuben Noftsier, Beaver Falls, where funeral services were held at 12:30 Sunday afternoon and at 1:30 at the Amish Mennonite church, Kirschnerville. Rev. Lloyd. Boshart, pastor, officiated. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
Surviving besides her daughter, Mrs. Henry (Alice) Saunders, and son, Reuben, are three other daughters. Mrs. Joseph (Helena) Steria, New Bremen; Mrs. Edward (Erma) Hoppel, Carthage, and Mrs. Nelson (Leona) Loson, Lowville; two sons; Aaron Noftsier, Lyons Falls; and Harold Noftsier, Rome; one brother Christopher Lyndaker, Croghan, and; two sisters, Mrs, Katie Swartrentruber, Westmoreland, and Mrs. Lizzie Robles, Seneca Fans, 30 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchild. Another son, Joseph, died March 16, 1939.
Mrs. Noftsier was born, at Croghan, Dec. 12, 1875, daughter of Joseph and Barbara Zehr Lyndaker.Her father was born in France. Her mother was a native of Croghan.
She attended school at Croghan and on Feb., 15,1894, was married to Christopher Noftsier at the home of her parents, Rev. Christopher Noftsier, then pastor of the Amish Mennonite church, Kirschnerville, officiated.
Following the marriage, the couple lived at Croghan. Later they lived in this viliage, and on the Snell road near New Bremen. After Mr. Noftsier retired the couple lived at Beaver Falls.
Mr. Noftsier a farmer all his life, died there July 8, 1935. After his death, Mrs. Noftsier lived at Croghan and later lived with her, children. She was a member of the Amish Mennonite church, Croghan.
