In the passing away of Mrs. Joseph Lyndaker, Sr.. whose death occurred at 5 p. m. on October 10th, this vicinity loses one of Its esteemed residents. Mrs. Lyndaker had been a sufferer from cronic bronchial asthama for twenty-five or thirty years, and bore her great suffering with a marked degree of patience.
She had rallied many times from what would seem to be a fatal attack, but was unable to withstand the ordeal of the attack which came on about two weeks ago. Mrs. Lyndaker's maiden name was Barbara Zehr and she was born on October 6, 1845. She was a good friend and neighbor and was a lifelong member of the Amish church.
Her funeral services were very largely attended from her late home Saturday morning at 9 o'clock and from the Amish church an hour later. Mrs. Lyndaker leaves to survive her, besides her aged husband, four sons, Michael, of Belfort, and Christian, Joseph and John, of Croghan; three daughters, Mrs. Andrew Yancey and Mrs. John Yancey, of Belfort. and Mrs. Peter Swartzentruber of Batavia. She had forty-eight grandchildren, thirty-nine of whom are living. She also leaves four brothers, John Zehr, of Michigan; Michael Zehr, of Indian River; Joseph Zehr, of Carthage; Christian Zehr, of Croghan, and one sister, Mrs. Christopher Sauer of Croghan.
