Westmoreland—Maj. Peter
Swartzentruber, 84, of this
village, former commanding
officer of the Utica Corps of
the Salvation Army, died
Tuesday in St. Luke's-Memorial Hospital Center, Utica.
Major S w a r t z e n t r u b e r
served as commanding officer of- the Salvation Army here from 1926 to 1930.
He was born in Canada, and
came to this country when a
young man. He had also
served as commanding officer
of the Rome Corps of the
Salvation Army and held
similar posts in Pennsylvania
until he retired in 1937.
He married Katherine Lyndaker in 1897. The couple recently celebrated their 64th
wedding anniversary.
Besides his wife, he leaves
two daughters, Mrs. Harold
Brown, Utica, and Mrs. Milo
Whitney, Rome; a brother,
Joseph, in Canada.
The funeral will be at 2
tomorrow from the Salvation
Army Citadel. Blandina Street,
with Maj. Clyde Wadman officiating. Burial will be in Beaver Falls Cemetery in the
spring.
